Gala raises $50,000 to support vulnerable children and families | News, Sports, Jobs

Dwell recently announced the success of its first annual Family Table Gala, held in mid-October, which raised $50,000.

“This event brought together community members, local leaders, advocates and supporters to champion the mission of providing unparalleled support to foster, adoptive and kinship families so they are equipped with the tools they need to facilitate the healing of vulnerable children.” » indicates a press release.

The Family Table Gala embodies the conviction that “Everyone has a place at the table”; symbolizing inclusiveness and community support. Although not everyone is called to foster or adopt, everyone can do something to help children from difficult situations and the families who love them. Together we can share resources, offer encouragement, and advocate for those who need it most.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our community” said Jenn Lake, executive director of Dwell, according to the press release. “Hearing foster and adoptive families talk about our work reinforces why we do it. Every dollar raised will help provide essential physical, emotional and spiritual resources and training to families caring for vulnerable children. I have many conversations with people who say “that’s wonderful but I can never be a foster parent or adopt.” And I tell them it’s okay! Not everyone is called to foster or adopt waiting children, but everyone has a place at this table. You may not feel called to foster or adopt, but you have gifts and talents to offer for the cause. Pull up a chair, let’s get to work!
