Liverpool and Arsenal hoping for incredible Lamine Yamal transfer after huge Barcelona blow

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is considered one of the most exciting prospects in the world and Liverpool and Arsenal are keen to sign him, with the reason why a deal could be possible now revealed.

The 17-year-old winger burst onto the scene in 2023, making his senior debut for Barcelona at the age of 15, and is now one of the first names on the team sheet for Hansi’s side Flick.

Yamal scored seven goals and made nine assists in 50 appearances in all competitions last season, and looks set to go one better this time around with five goals and seven assists in just 13 matches so far this season.

The teenager could become a future Ballon d’Or winner if he continues his current progression. It is therefore not surprising to see Liverpool and Arsenal interested in him. According to the journalist Miguel Delaney, the Premier League duo are both monitoring Yamal and “considering potential offers for the winger”.

While Barcelona are very reluctant to sell one of their valuable assets, their financial problems could force their hand. Having recently lost an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding its records for the 2023/24 season, the club are at risk of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

In its financial report last season, Barcelona attempted to include the €267m (£222m) sale of 10 per cent of its broadcast rights over the next 25 years as “other income”. “exploitation” – taken into account in its FFP calculations.

However, UEFA insisted that they should have been classified as “profits on the disposal of tangible assets”, which are not taken into account in the FFP, and imposed a fine of €500,000 on Barcelona for misreporting their numbers.

Barcelona appealed the decision to CAS, but on Friday the court ruled against the La Liga club, leaving its financial situation increasingly murky.

Liverpool and Arsenal ‘love’ Yamal – report

Barcelona’s financial difficulties could force them to sell some of their best players and Yamal will undoubtedly be one of the most in demand.

In his newsletter, Delaney said: “For now, rivals are once again eyeing their brilliant youth products, such as Gabi, Pedri and – of course – Lamine Yamal.

“Arsenal and Liverpool would very much like the latter, as unlikely as it may seem at the moment. They will have to sell. The CAS case showed that there are no real creative options left.

As stated previously, Liverpool have drawn up a shortlist of winger targets as they prepare for the departure of Mo Salah, who is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

We understand that Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo, Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane are the Reds’ top three targets, but that could change if Yamal becomes available.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are also exploring possible winger reinforcements, with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo on their radar.

It is worth noting that Barcelona have already made it very clear that they want to keep Yamal forever, as the club has reportedly stated. rejected a bid of around €250m (£211.2m) from Paris Saint-Germain for him this summer.

Latest transfer: Chiesa going nowhere / Arsenal get Isak boost

Elsewhere, Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa has been linked with a possible return to Serie A in January, but we understand these reports are far from the truth.

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Liverpool have no plans to loan Chiesa. The Italian international wants to prove himself to Arne Slot and show that he can replace Salah.

The Reds are currently considering signing a new winger, so they currently believe they need someone else if Salah leaves, as expected.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are keen to sign a new world-class striker to rival Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, and we can confirm it. Newcastle star Alexander Isak is their main target.

Isak has only scored one Premier League goal so far this season, but the 25-year-old is still considered one of the best young strikers in Europe.

Sources have informed TEAMtalk that Arsenal would jump at the chance to sign Isak next summer, even though they know it would take more than £100million to lure him away from St James’ Park.

Newcastle are keen to tie Isak, currently under contract until 2028, to a new long-term deal in a bid to deter interest in his signing.

However, we understand the striker is reluctant to put pen to paper as his priority is to play regular Champions League football – something he believes is unlikely with the Magpies, as things stand.

As a result, TEAMtalk sources say the chances of Isak leaving Newcastle are “very high”.
