COLUMBUS, OhioWCMH) — After months of election anticipation, central Ohio residents will soon be switching from street signs to Christmas lights, and the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio is ready to help.

After Tuesday’s electionsSWACO offers several free ways for residents to recycle political signs to minimize roadside litter and landfill pollution.

According to SWACO, Franklin County residents are encouraged to recycle their paper and plastic yard signs and accompanying metal brackets using one of the following methods:

  • Mobile Collection Event: Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, the Bill McDonald Sports Complex on Olentangy River Road will host a campaign sign collection event.

  • SWACO Recycling Center Drop-Off: Signs and metal brackets can be dropped off at 2566 Jackson Pike in Columbus from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday the rest of the month.

  • Board of Elections Drop-off: Signs can be dropped off today through December 1 at the east end of the parking lot of the Franklin County Board of Elections building on Morse Road.

  • Residential Recycling Programs: Paper yard signs can be placed in curbside recycling containers, and stretch plastic signs can be recycled at retail locations that accept plastic film.
