Sundowns take revenge against Polokwane City in PSL

Manqoba Mngqithi made several changes compared to the The Sundowns team that beat Kaizer Chiefs in the knockout of Carling. However, the quality of the line-up was still enough to secure all three points against Polokwane City.

Letlhaku gave Sundowns the lead in the 27th minute after being teed up by Arthur Sales. The effort from the teenager’s left foot was too strong for Sapunga to remove.

Despite several chances created by both teams, the score remained 1-0 at half-time, with Sundowns the better side.

The second half started slowly, but Polokwane City had the best chance to score in the first 10 minutes.

Chauke had the chance to level things up in the 55th minute, but couldn’t direct his header past Ronwen Williams.

Lethlaku came close to doubling Sundowns’ lead a minute after Chauke’s miss, but Polokwane goalkeeper Sapunga saved his effort.
