Trump and Baldwin win in Wisconsin; Decision on actions shared by voters

Wisconsin is divided. Both Republican President-elect Donald Trump And Democrat Tammy Baldwin claimed victory in the battleground state after Tuesday’s election.

FOX6 News researched voters who said they voted for both Trump and Baldwin and encountered mixed reactions and emotions, but mostly the question: “How?”

“People talk about it, but I think they’re like me and wonder, ‘How did this happen?'” Dan Klemack said.

In Milwaukee CountyBaldwin’s challenger in the U.S. Senate race, Republican Eric Hovde, received about 6,300 fewer votes than Trump. As people passed by, it initially proved difficult to find a split-ticket voter. Finally, FOX6 found one.

“I feel like we’re safer and in a better situation with Trump,” Naqualon Gibson said. “With the lady Tammy Baldwin, I don’t really know much about her. She just seemed like the best candidate, plus we’ve elected her before.”

Other voters said splitting their ticket was something they thought deeply about. Jada Wilson said she considered voting for Baldwin when it came to women’s rights.

“It was actually a really big decision for me, so it’s pretty crazy that you’re asking that question because I thought I was the only one thinking about it,” she said. “It didn’t really sell me, but it almost did, I’d say.”

Regardless of how you voted, one thing was true in the swing state: Anything can happen. One positive thing people noticed Wednesday was that regardless of how they voted, they felt their vote made a difference in battleground Wisconsin.
