Delaware County driver faces drug and weapons charges

Driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade, Alyssa Leslie, 30, of Darby, Delaware County, was stopped by state police in the 800 block of Sheridan Street in the city around 12:15 a.m. October 12 due to illegally tinted windows.

After spotting a marijuana vape pen inside the vehicle, officers asked her permission to search the car, to which she consented, according to an affidavit. Police found 21 grams of leaf marijuana and a loaded handgun in the car. She had a permit for the weapon, but it expired in March 2023, police said.

Leslie was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on felony charges of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as five summary offences. Initially jailed, she has since waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $10,000 bail.

Lycoming Township man charged with drug crimes

Jacob Thomas Greenly, 36, of 34 Catherine Drive, Apartment 34, was charged by the county drug unit with attempted delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a cell phone at home. following an incident in which he admitted he was on his way to sell methamphetamine to another person when he was stopped by a county detective at High and Rose streets in the city around 11:45 a.m. on September 18, an affidavit said. Greenly had a container of the controlled substance with him, the court document states.

Following his recent appearance before District Judge Aaron Biichle, he was released on $50,000 bail.

Three women charged in two separate incidents

An-Nisa Nichole Jones, 25, of Lewisburg, and Nahjay Jackson, 22, of 815 W. Fourth St., were both charged with criminal trespass, simple assault and harassment for assaulting an acquaintance , Iyonna Edkins, after the two forced them. entered Edkins’ house at 617 Third Ave. around 12:30 p.m. on October 16, city police said in an affidavit. Edkins suffered a swollen lip in the attack, police said. Jones and Jackson were arraigned hours later before District Judge Gary Whiteman and initially jailed, but have since been released on $15,000 bail each. Both men waived their preliminary hearings.

In another criminal case, Edkins, 24, was listed as a defendant in a case in which state police charged her with theft of services and criminal trespass. The charges stem from her staying at a bed and breakfast on Sept. 27 at the Econo Lodge, 2019 E. Third St., after management barred her from Loyalsock Township business, a the police said. The room had not been paid for, an affidavit states. There was no explanation as to how Edkins obtained the room key. She was arraigned earlier this week before Whiteman and released on $10,000 bail.

Domestic disturbance leads to charges against Montoursville man

Alan Stephen Walker, 40, of 1301 Spruce St., Montoursville, faces charges of terroristic threats, false imprisonment and harassment after ” threat “ his girlfriend, telling him he would “knock her out (expletive)” during a domestic dispute at the couple’s home around 8:40 p.m. on September 29, it was alleged in a borough police affidavit. He also pushed the woman onto a couch and wouldn’t let her get up, the victim told police.

When officers arrived on scene, it was clear to them that Walker was intoxicated as he was standing upright swinging, the court document states. He also had a strong odor of alcohol, police said. The woman reported suffering bruising to her left thigh and left arm, police added.

Walker waived his preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $15,000 bail.

Impaired driver faces additional weapons charges

Criminal charges have been laid against impaired driver Isak Fowler after he used a short-barreled shotgun loaded with “a sound suppressing muzzle device” attached to it was discovered inside his pickup truck that State Police stopped at Lincoln Drive and Tinsman Avenue around 12:10 a.m. March 5.

Fowler, 25, of 62 Katzmaier Road, Montoursville, was stopped for failing to use a turn signal and the center brake light not working, police said. Minutes after stopping, a fire broke out in the front wheel well of the truck, and Fowler and a passenger were ordered to exit the vehicle for their own safety. One of the police officers quickly put out the fire.

Fowler’s speech was slow and slow, and troopers saw an open beer can in the center console, an affidavit said. Police believed Fowler and his passenger “were under the influence of alcohol”, the court document states.

Officers took possession of a rifle that was on the center console with the barrel facing the windshield, police said. Fowler had a blood alcohol level of 0.14, police said. Fowler was charged with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, DUI and five summary violations. He has since waived his preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $10,000 bail.

Second person charged in gun case

Cassandra Jene Hughes, 36, of 816 Park Ave., was charged with convicted felon failure to possess a firearm, possession of a firearm with an altered or obliterated serial number and felony endangering the welfare of a child after detectives with the county’s narcotics unit seized a handgun while executing a search warrant at the home she shares with John Kyle Smith at 816 Park Ave. in the city on Oct. 9, according to an affidavit.

Like Smith, Hughes has several felony convictions in Florida, the court document states. Hughes was arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and is free on $30,000 bail. Smith, 29, was earlier charged with the same offenses and has since been brought before the court on identical charges. He, too, is free on $30,000 bail.
