The White House is about to see another history-making vice presidential spouse.

With Ohio Senator JD Vance poised to become the next vice president, his wife, Usha Vance, who is the daughter of Indian immigrants, is expected to be the first Native American second lady in the White House. She will also be the first Hindu second lady.

Biden spoke to Trump and Harris, White House says

President Joe Biden spoke by phone Wednesday with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, according to the White House.

The White House said Biden “congratulated” Trump on his victory during the call and invited him to a meeting at the White House, adding that staff would coordinate a specific date for that meeting. Biden also “expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together” during the call, according to the White House.

Additionally, Biden spoke with Harris today and “congratulated” her on her campaign, the White House said, adding that Biden would “address the nation to discuss the election results and the transition ” tomorrow.

Trump campaign says Vice President Harris congratulated him

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said Vice President Kamala Harris “congratulated him on his historic victory” in a phone call Wednesday.
