Many claim that ChatGPT’s search results are better than traditional searches, and now there’s an easy way to test them.

The first version of ChatGPT, available on the OpenAI website, quickly changed the way people search for information online. Today, OpenAI is going even further with a new tool called Search ChatGPTannounced on October 31. This tool combines the conversational style of AI chatbots with the structure of traditional search engines, making finding information online easier and more interactive.

As OpenAI explains, “ChatGPT can now search the web much more efficiently than beforeproviding quick and timely answers with links to relevant sources, which previously required visiting a search engine. “To make it even easier to use, OpenAI has released a browser extension that replaces Google search with ChatGPT search directly in the address bar.

Once installed, users can enter search terms as usual, but results will come from ChatGPToften offering more detailed and specific answers than Google. With ChatGPT Search’s conversational format, users can ask follow-up questions and drill down into topics, which is especially useful for complex questions or when seeking more personalized information.

The extension includes settings allowing users to filter content and adjust search preferences. OpenAI has also added real-time data updates to keep responses fresh, making ChatGPT a solid choice for finding up-to-date information.

With already more than 200,000 users, the Chrome extension is currently only available to ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribersas well as those on the OpenAI waiting list. However, OpenAI plans to make ChatGPT Search available to free users in the coming months.
