In Agatha throughoutIn the finale of , we learned more about Agatha Harkness’s past and the truth about her son, Nicky (better known to comic book fans as Nicholas Scratch).

When Agathe was about to give birth, Death arrived to claim the child; however, the witch pleaded for more time and apparently bought that by killing witches. The one night – at Nicky’s request – that she didn’t, Death finally came for him and Agatha, ashamed of her actions, spent hundreds of years murdering her fellow magicians on the “Road Witches” to avoid finding the boy.

There’s been a lot of talk about who her father might be, and in a new interview, Agatha throughout Showrunner Jac Schaeffer suggested that Rio Vidal/Death conceived the child with the series’ main character.

“I will say (Laughs) that when we were casting, we were sometimes like, ‘Does this kid look like Rio? Does this kid look like Aubrey Plaza?” » the screenwriter and director teased. “Fans and viewers, yes, definitely pick up on our brainwaves.”

Schaeffer added, “I didn’t expect the senders to be so enthusiastic. You never know how something will land or if people will care. The number of people who care is staggering. I hope that in the MCU, there will be more details on the story of Agatha & Rio.”

This fits with previous comments that a man was not necessary to conceive a witch’s child and the fact that “Rio” had to take his own son into the afterlife adds another tragic dimension to his past romance with Agatha.

There are a lot of stories that could be told with an adult Nicky (especially if he really is an “Agent of Mephisto”). Still, as Schaeffer points out, most fans remain eager to learn more about Agatha and Death’s past… and to see Plaza reprise her role in the MCU as soon as possible.
