Ms. Eglantina Gjermeni, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Albania to International Organizations in Vienna, and Mr. Hua Liu, Deputy Director General of the IAEA and Head of the Technical Cooperation Department, signed the program framework- (CPF) of Albania for the period 2024-2029, on 6 November 2024. A CPF is the reference framework for medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies areas priorities in which nuclear technology transfer and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development objectives.

Albania has been an IAEA Member State since 1957. Its CPF 2024-2029 identifies four priority areas:

1. Nuclear and radiological safety and nuclear security
2. Human health
3. Radioisotopes and radiation technology
4. Food and agriculture
