Influential PSL star has no place in Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana side

Due to his age, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gaston Sirino is not part of Hugo Broos’ plans for Bafana Bafana.

Broos said Sirino was a good player but kept the player away from Bafana although the Uruguayan recently became eligible after receiving a South African passport.

Following the injury of star midfielder Themba Zwanefans requested that Sirino be included in the team, but Broos said he was looking for someone younger.

According to iDiski SchedulesBroos said Sirino was not in his plans despite playing a main role for the Chiefs since his arrival since Mamelodi sunsets at the start of the current season.

Broos said:

“I know Sirino is a very good player. I also know he can be very important for the Chiefs, but he’s not the type of player I want. Secondly, he’s also 33, I think. I’ve been looking for someone for months if not for Themba because he was old at that time, so I’m not going to take another older player.

Local football fans agreed with Broos on social media, saying Sirino had no place in the Bafana team.

Broos rewarded the Stellies goalkeeper for his consistent performances after the 33-year-old said he dreamed of playing for Bafana.
