As if the time change wasn’t already enough to adjust to, Toronto is now heading into the long, dark days of winter, with the afternoon sunsets upon us.

After November 7, the 5 p.m. sunsets are over.

“The times of sunrise and sunset will continue to decrease until we reach the darkest day, the winter solstice on December 21,” says Rachel Modestino, meteorologist at MétéoMédia. “It will not be until January 10, 2025 that we will see the sun set after 5 p.m. again. »

But it’s not all bad news, because this weekend in southern Ontario will defy its dark November reputation. High pressure will dominate the region Friday and Saturday, providing plenty of opportunities for abundant daytime sunshine – something quite rare throughout the month of November.

By Sunday, some limited sunshine is possible early in the day, especially east of Toronto, but we will see increasing clouds throughout the day. However, temperatures will still remain a few degrees above the season.

Mild and pleasant conditions will continue to dominate early to mid next week, with above-seasonal temperatures remaining stuck in until mid-month.

Be sure to enjoy November’s warmer weather and sunny days as much as possible, especially as we get darker and colder from here on out.
