VED: Purification is a free, fully hand-drawn RPG prologue, complete with Stetson hats and Evil Dead trees.

I received an email about this. It looks cool. Is free. “I’ll write about this,” I thought. “I’ll be writing about this for Rock Paper Shotgun, a site that publishes articles about cool and cool things on a semi-regular basis. free games. » So here we are. If you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop, assuming that the only reason I would open an article superfluously and bluntly is because I’m about to deliver some sort of third sentence, you’re dead wrong! There is no twist at all. I’m just going to deliver some information about the game in a neutral tone. You can find VED: Purificationn, a free demo of the prologue for RPG VED, here.

Ok, fine, here’s a non-neutral review: the dubbing is as coarse as the cheap Asda cat litter I bought which was so close to gravel in consistency that I refused to subject my pet to it, so those are bonus points for the art. for showing my interest. This one is a turn-based RPG, but with cRPG elements like dialogue choices, multiple endings, and a series of intriguing “curses or blessings”, which seem somewhat roguelike-as. There are dice rolls and ability loadings, and most importantly, the gifs on the Steam page for the main game there is at least one very good giant mushroom bastard. This is how the game is described:

In VED, you play as Cyrus, a young hero who comes to the city of Micropolis in search of a new life. There, he suddenly discovers the ability to teleport between two interconnected worlds filled with mysterious flying islands, strange creatures and dangerous monsters. Develop an interactive story where every decision counts and help Cyrus discover the truth about this magical place, so you can decide the fate of two worlds. To succeed in your quest, you will need to master the powerful magic of the Veds.

Just once, I wish a game came out and told me in marketing that “only about a third of the decisions you make matter.” Wouldn’t you buy this game immediately, just out of respect for its honesty? I would like. Of course, I haven’t played VED, so maybe every decision counts, and maybe “easy to learn but hard to master” is also an accurate description of combat. Who knows! The full game will be released in a week anyway. It’s November 14th and your prologue progress continues all the way to the big release, if you can find a dedicated VEDhead.
