Migrant workers hold money-related signs at Geylang BTO site, MOM says workers don’t owe wages – Mothership.SG

A group of migrant workers were seen holding placards outside a construction site in Geylang on October 24.

In a photo taken by a passerby and uploaded to Redditat least four workers were seen holding signs.

The poster said the signs indicated workers were owed money.

One of the cardboard signs had the words “unpaid amount” and another appeared to indicate an amount of money.

The site matches the Google Street View of Dakota One, an upcoming BTO estate located at 88A Jalan Satu.

MOM reached out to workers

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has issued a statement on Oct. 25, saying they were aware of a social media post regarding the incident.

MOM has since engaged the migrant workers involved.

According to the ministry, the workers said they were not owed any wages and had not reported any health problems.

Reply to The mothership After a few questions, the police confirmed that a report had been made.

Police investigations are currently underway.

Mothership contacted the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and MOM for more information.

Migrant workers who owe wages encouraged to contact MOM

In October 2022, migrant workers were involved in a protest against unpaid salary.

The five workers received help from MOM and the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM).

Their employer made the payments in full.

Migrant workers with salary issues are encouraged to contact TADM or MOM at 64385122.
