Spirit Airlines also commented on the viral incident, telling CNN: “To ensure a positive experience for our LGA guests, we immediately notified the facilities team and are addressing the issue with a professional wildlife control company. ”

The city recommends that anyone experiencing an unwanted encounter with a raccoon keep their distance and “never attempt to trap or catch a raccoon yourself.”

If a raccoon enters an unwanted indoor space, the Department of Health recommends making the environment uncomfortable for the animal by turning on flashing lights or playing loud music.

“If these methods do not work, you may need to find and hire a professional licensed nuisance wildlife control operator,” the city notes.

Additionally, the Department of Health states that wild animals infected with rabies and canine distemper virus often appear sick or injured, may act lethargic, behave aggressively, or may behave unusually friendly. .
