HUNTSVILLE, AlabamaWAF) – One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Huntsville, according to Don Webster of Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc.

Webster said the shooting happened around 2 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Binford Drive.

Huntsville Police Sergeant Chris Jackson said when officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound.

Jackson says she was transferred to Huntsville Hospital for treatment and will likely survive her injuries.

The firearm used in the shooting was in an apartment with a potential suspect.

After investigation, it was determined that the gun went off while furniture was being moved and the bullet accidentally struck the victim.

Investigators determined the firearm was stolen.

The suspect was identified as 50-year-old Rodrick Learnest Carson.

He was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property – 2nd Degree and Prohibiting Certain Persons from Possessing a Firearm.
