Teams are in the “clean-up” phase to fight the Blue Mountain bushfire | Lehigh Valley Regional News

LEHIGH TWP., Pa. — Good news on the horizon for the fire burning in Blue Mountain. Crews believe they have stopped its growth.

As of the last update, it spans just under 600 acres and is 25% contained.

Officials say they are now in the “mop-up” phase of the firefight.

Crews have been working on the fire for five days now and recently got help from a Berks County nonprofit group.

“We got food, we drank water, we stopped at convenience stores, bought Tylenol, sticks for these guys, anything that could help them,” said Richard Miller, chief of the Pennsylvania Search and Rescue.

The Fleetwood-based group also traveled to North Carolina to bring donations to victims of Hurricane Helene.

Officials say there is still a lot of work to be done and they will come down to help this week.
