Showers today, rain likely this evening

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The rain returns with random showers today and widespread rain this evening. Random showers or sprinkles may still exist tomorrow, mainly in the morning, but should not lead to much additional rain after sunrise. Highs remain in the 50s in many areas today and tomorrow before warming back into the 60s on Sunday.

Take action:

  1. Spotted showers will exist at times today but won’t amount to much, most places won’t get anything other than drizzle or splashes, but for those that do get rain it will probably only be 0.10 ″ or less.
  2. With rain likely this evening, especially from midnight to sunrise, most activity will be out of the area by sunrise Saturday, but check the radar before heading out to find out where the rain is. This is not expected to last past midday, with rain leading to dry conditions for the afternoon. This means college games will be dry and even sunny!
  3. The weather for the Chiefs game will be superb! Starting in the upper 40s in the morning and will be around 60 in the afternoon with lots of sunshine and a west wind around 10 mph.

While there are still some minor differences in the models on specific precipitation details through Saturday morning regarding timing and precipitation totals, confidence is very high we will have most of the rain between sunset tonight and sunrise Saturday. Most spots should still be between 0.50″ and 1.25″…of course there will be spots outside of this range, including less than 0.50″. Lightning would be the only danger, so no serious weather risks including the threat of flooding despite heavy rain at times, but watch out for puddles on the roads this evening.
