Army veteran Steve Davies, who runs the CIC, has been traveling the UK for around six years restoring military graves and monuments.

“I’m not here to make money, I’m here to cover my costs. I have cleaned more than 1,000 graves, about 30 memorials and about 10 statues,” he said.

“I love the process and I love the before and after. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and want to make sure everything is perfect.

Mr Davies said he had cleaned all the “nasty bits” from the memorial and hosed it down with an environmentally friendly cleaning product.
