Rain intensifies tonight through the weekend, but good news for Chiefs fans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) -High pressure will continue to break down today as a new storm system from the west and southwest builds in the Missouri River Valley. For this morning, partly cloudy skies will allow us to continue moving toward mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures expected in the mid 40s. Winds blowing between 5 and 15 mph from the northeast will produce a feeling temperature of 5° to 10 ° below the actual air temperature.

Gusts of up to 20 mph will pick up this afternoon and continue overnight as rain chances increase. Temperatures are expected to peak between 56° and 61° this afternoon. Shower activity is possible even this morning but very, very limited to the area. It is most likely to occur late in the afternoon as a quick, scattered shower before a threat of widespread rain and thunderstorms develops late in the evening.

Severe weather activity is still concentrated well to the south throughout Texas, but a few strong thunderstorm cells with heavy rain and winds just below severe weather criteria are possible, particularly between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. tomorrow Saturday.

Rainfall totals are forecast to be between 0.25 and 1.15 inches, with the heaviest precipitation occurring in our southwest counties. Fortunately, the rain will set in Saturday mid-afternoon. If you plan to attend the KC Current game, scattered showers are likely to begin, but they will diminish quickly. Temperatures will be in the lower 50s with highs between 60° and 63°.

Sunday at Arrowhead we will see dry conditions with partly sunny skies and kickoff temperatures around 53°, warming up to 61° by the end of the game.

Veterans Day is almost a carbon copy of Sunday. However, temperatures will be slightly warmer between 62° and 66°.
