A little break after the rain

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – Yesterday’s rain left cooler temperatures for your Friday. Most of the region will experience the upper 60s, drier conditions and mostly sunny skies.

SECURITIES:

  • Slight break from the rain
  • The rain returns this weekend
  • Spirits remain above normal

DISCUSSION:

This week has alternated dry and wet conditions, and today there is no difference. After a dry Monday and Election Day, then rain Wednesday and Thursday, it’s no surprise that we’ll be dry again today and most of tomorrow. Today you might experience some light mist in the morning, but we will stay dry until evening Saturday. Rain starting Saturday night will spread through your Sunday and taper off Monday.

Temperatures this week will remain in the upper 60s with a drop to the mid 60s on Tuesday and the low 60s on Thursday. With the exception of Thursday, all days this week will remain above the normal high of 60 degrees and the normal low of 41.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE:

This long period of above-average temperatures may finally be coming to an end. On Thursday, a wave of cooler temperatures will descend on Eastern Kentucky as the Jet Stream descends and brings us cooler Canadian air. These temperatures will be a much-needed change after Tuesday’s record temperatures! Although cooler weather will be appreciated, temperatures will only drop to normal temperatures for this time of year into the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!
