Rashida Jones has described her father, Quincy Jones, as “the safest place in the world” for her in a touching tribute. after his death.

“My father was nocturnal his entire adult life,” she began in an Instagram post THURSDAY. “He took jazz hours in high school and never looked back.

“When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to look for him. Without a doubt, he would be somewhere in the house, composing (the old-fashioned way, with a pen and sheet music). He would never send me back to bed. He smiled and hugged me while he continued to work… there was no safer place in the world for me.

The 48-year-old actress remembered him as “a giant, an icon, a culture changer, a genius.”

“All accurate descriptions of my father, but his music (and ALL his work) was a channel for his love. He WAS love. He made everyone he met feel loved and seen. This is his legacy.

Rashida expressed feeling lucky to “experience this love close by” before saying that she would miss “his hugs and kisses, his unconditional devotion and his advice.”

“Dad, it’s an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever,” she concluded her moving message.

This tribute comes almost a week after the death of the music icon at the age of 91.

Quincy publicist Arnold Robinson announced the news in a statement on behalf of Jones’ family members on November 4.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of the passing of our father and brother Quincy Jones,” he wrote.

“And while this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the beautiful life he lived and know there will never be another like him.”

He went on to clarify that the Grammy winner died in his Los Angeles home, surrounded by his loved ones.

The composer is survived by seven children, including “Parks and Recreation” actress. His other children are Jolie, 69, Rachel, 59, Martina, 58, Quincy III, 55, Kidada, 50, and Kenya, 31.
