Arcane Creators Explain ‘Dangerous’ Reason Season 2 Had to Be Last

Arcane’s ending with season 2 might be sad, but creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee explained why it was the right decision – and it would have been “dangerous” to continue.

The first chapter of League of Legends The series has received critical and commercial acclaim, so it’s understandable that the news of Arcana Season 2 being the final installment, it brought mixed emotions.

Fortunately, there are still nine new episodes to look forward to, which will conclude the story of estranged sisters Vi and Jinx and the burgeoning war between Piltover and Zaun.

Ahead of the release of season 2 part 1Dexerto has caught up Linke and Yee to find out why they chose to end the story here.

As Linke explains: “It was never an open concept. It was always like, “Hey, there’s a story to tell.” » There is a beginning and an end to the relationships between the characters we had in mind, particularly for Vi and Jinx and for Jayce and Viktor.

“Not so much the plot – I mean, certain parts – but there was definitely something specific here that I wanted to explore and say with this story. So that’s exactly what we decided to do.

“I think it’s also dangerous to stretch and hold something forever,” he continued. Yee explained that it was “difficult” even creating a second season for Esoteric.

“We knew where we wanted to go with the story but… you need the ambitions of your characters in the first season to really culminate in something that’s going to sort of take its own angle in the second season,” he said. he declared.

“It’s always about change. I think that’s why a lot of shows, you know, when they go on too long, they start to fall apart because you can only have big changes so many times before they start coming out. loose and vague.

“The other thing is it comes from League of Legends where there are so many champions, so many other regions,” Yee added.

“Our original intention was always to bring this world to life and so I think being able to see more aspects of it and allowing more players to see their favorite parts was something that motivated us as well.”
