Houston warehouse fire: 2-alarm fire at Bingle Road facility under control

Houston Fire Department controls 2-alarm fire at northwest warehouse Houston.

According to initial reports, the fire broke out around 3:10 p.m. in the 3300 block of Bingle Road, near Bascom Street, at a facility. Heavy smoke and flames are visible coming from the building.

According to Brent Taylor, communications director for the Houston Fire Department, firefighters attempted to enter the building to fight the fire, but encountered some problems due to debris.

A second alarm was sounded approximately 15 minutes later as smoke and flames persisted.

Taylor said at least 100 firefighters were on scene battling the blaze.

Authorities said fire units were on scene investigating the fire.

Air and water quality in the area is being monitored and there is no indication that shelter is necessary.

Officials said the building would be a furniture storage facility.

Taylor added that a homeless encampment is located near the fire and those people have been checked out by authorities.

No injuries were reported.

It’s unclear how long firefighters will be on scene, but drivers should avoid the area.
