Lost hope: Tim Walz’s daughter turns to TikTok to ‘channel’ post-election anger

Governor. That of Tim Walz (D-MN), Hope, recently turned to TikTok following the 2024 presidential election, which saw his father and vice president Kamala Harris lose to the president-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance on Tuesday.

Hope Walz’s TikTok account has only posted three videos since Thursday, including the second where she filmed herself eating macaroni and cheese while watching TV as she let off some steam on the election results. Walz explained that she had reached the stage of anger in the grief stage and chose to “channel” it by sharing some thoughts she’s had since the election.

FIVE DEMOCRATS IN FIRST POSITION TO BE FACES OF THE PARTY IN 2028

“The first being that this country doesn’t deserve Kamala Harris,” Hope Walz said. “This woman should go live her best life wherever she wants, do what she wants, because we don’t deserve her at this point.” The only people who ran this election were black women and we failed them. It’s just heartbreaking and we need to do everything we can to support them and our people over the next four years.

Walz added that she is grateful to be on the “side of love, hope, joy and progress” rather than the Republican side. She also said she would give herself a week “to mourn what could have been.”

In the follow-up video, Walz revealed that she “finally” took a shower and brushed her teeth for the first time since election night. She also said that once her week of mourning is over, “the work begins” on the Democratic Party’s next steps.

After Trump won the 2024 election, Harris conceded the race but said she “would not recognize the fight that fueled this campaign”, and encouraged his supporters that sometimes “the fight takes time” to win. Tim Walz also expressed gratitude to Harris-Walz supporters, writing on X that they must “keep fighting” for the party’s ideals.

Reflecting on Harris’ loss, Harris-Walz campaign national finance committee member Lindy Li expressed I hope the party will take an “honest assessment” of why it lost to Trump.warning that the party “will continue to lose” if it does not.
