Jurassic World: Chaos Theory EP Scott Kreamer told me how Jurassic World Dominion inspired Season 2’s jaw-dropping character reveal

When you cast a character name like “The Broker”, any series that is part of the TV schedule 2024, or any show series for that matter, will prick up some ears. But when you use that name to invoke mystery in something like Jurassic World: Chaos Theoryit becomes an opportunity in a fan’s mind. With such a rich lineup of antagonists in the Jurassic Park Universethis imposing name could have belonged to anyone.

Sure enough, this season made my jaw drop by revealing who this mysterious power figure was. Which meant that when I sat down with Chaos theory EP Scott Kreamer, it was time to ask him to explain to me how Domination of the Jurassic world inspired this particular choice. And yes, the person we’re going to talk about is from this very movie, which only makes this season’s cliffhanger even more exciting.

Early screenings of Jurassic World Dominion factored into Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’s big reveal

While discussing Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 Story DevelopmentI took some of the allotted time to speak with Kreamer at press day to talk about how the overarching story of the first two seasons came to be. Just a few months apart, these 20 episodes of Chaos theory are quite tightly woven together into the fabric of the Jurassic saga.

It turns out that the genesis of some Chaos theory Season 2’s most exciting plot points came from one of the perks of working on a Jurassic world project. With that in mind, here’s what Scott Kreamer told CinemaBlend when it debuted. Domination of the Jurassic world screening experience and how it helped:

When we launched the first season, we were definitely looking toward the future… (that’s) when we got to see some early screenings of (Jurassic World) Dominion before it came out. And that’s when we grasped the events and some of the characters that arise from them. We definitely kept all of that in mind. They weren’t written in one piece, but we obviously knew where we were ending the first season, and it was fun to keep the train going in the second season.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory End of season 1 saw Brooklynn (Kiersten Kelly) revealed to be alive and still fighting the good fight for the liberation of the dinosaurs. This quest took her to some very interesting places during Season 2, especially when she eventually reunited with “The Broker” in Dubai. Revealing to the world that this shadowy figure was actually Soyona Santos (Dichen Lachman) from Domination of the Jurassic worldthe threads between this DreamWorks Animation midquel and the 2022 trilogy capper have begun to tighten even more.

This was present in my conversation with Scott Kreamer, as his mention of director Colin Trevorrow’s big departure allowed me to ask him what inspired him to bring Soyona into the film. Chaos theory mix. Seizing on this story as he had previously discussed, Kreamer continued to describe Domination influence as follows:

I was halfway through answering the question when I realized we were in the non-spoiler part. So yeah, it was COVID times, we were in our masks and we’re in a screening room at Universal. And Bethany Armstrong Johnson, our head writer, and I kind of got together after the screening, and it was like, “We need to get this character into the show.” It was such an intriguing character, such a great performance. And luckily we had Colin’s blessing and then when they contacted us and Dichen agreed to do the Voice. She is such a wonderful actress and a better person than she is an actress. It’s really exciting and I think it elevates the whole thing.

Having spoken with Dichen Lachman in the past, I can definitely tell you that she is a fan of Jurassic Park Universe. So hearing Scott Kreamer call her a better person than a bad actor further reinforced the experience I had personally had speaking with the Kingdom of Planet of the Apes actor. With that on the table, we were able to dig deeper into how Soyona Santos expanded from it. Domination of the Jurassic world appearance in the current big bad of Chaos theory.

How Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Expanded Dichen Lachman’s Sonoya Santos

For everyone who saw Domination of the Jurassic worldSonoya Santos’ character may seem like a simple smuggler who can always deliver for a price. But there’s a lot about the character that hasn’t been seen on screen yet. Through my conversation with Scott Kreamer, I was reminded of the time when I learned these facts for myself.

Speaking to Dichen Lachman in 2022 on behalf of Jurassic World Domination home entertainment release, I learned how Soyona Santos Modified carbon the vet came up with his own process. Here’s part of Sonoya’s story, as told to CinemaBlend in 2022:

I hadn’t had a chance to read the script at that point, but I started thinking about how could I really ground this character? So I wrote this elaborate story about how she grew up in Siberia…and her mother ended up smuggling dinosaur bones, which is actually a thing. … She was extremely wealthy, boarding school-educated, but she came from this interesting place. … What I wrote could be made into a film on its own.

Reading this also makes Soyona’s introduction in Season 2, Episode 5 – “Troubled Waters” all the more exciting, as it references a dig her mother was involved in during her travels! Seeing Dichen Lachman’s morally gray character revealed as “The Broker” brought a smile to the fan in me, especially with such a juicy callback to deep lore. This kind of move shows an impressive degree of connection between this animated saga and the live-action adventures, without making too much of a deal out of it.

This is a great time to look back on my time with Scott Kreamer, as I was curious if his early access to the big Jurassic world the trilogy finale would have given him a chance to help polish Soyona’s cinematic presence. From the specific Chaos theory Season 1 Ratings What Colin Trevorrow shared about the Nublar Six’s growth path proved that the degree of trust between the series’ EPs could have used some room for changes here and there.

But as you’ll read in Scott Kreamer’s continuing remarks, that wasn’t a problem at all. Quote Jurassic World Domination own development process, Scott Kreamer highlighted the following specifics when it came to expanding Soyona Santos for Chaos theory Season 2:

Oh my God, no. They were in post-production at the time we got involved. But, you know, what was great was the character that Colin created, that he and Dichen created, with his writing and his performance. So we felt very safe, we knew we had the character under control. And even some of our story that made it into the show was based on meetings they had together when they were discussing a story. So it was cool. But when we wanted to expand it, whether it was her as a painter, or anything else we developed from the original, Colin and Dichen and everyone else immediately bought in. …it went very smoothly.

Although we still don’t know whether or not Jurassic World: Chaos Theory will be renewed for season 3, reintroducing Soyona Santos is a good step to take for the future of this series. As the plot is supposed to show events that took place months before Domination of the Jurassic world starts, whatever twists and turns happen next could lean heavily on what was said, but not shown. This is especially true for Dichen Lachman’s character, as there’s an entire event mentioned in the 2022 film that we still haven’t seen come to life.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if the dinosaur-fueled chaos returns to move the story forward.
