Drop like a slot potato

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has told Jamie Carragher he is not ‘well informed enough’ about his style of play.

In the aftermath of the Reds’ 2-1 win over Brighton, club legend Carragher claimed Slot did not want to see his side play the same “end-to-end football” as under Jurgen Klopp.

However, days later the Dutchman rejected the analysis and said his similarity to his German predecessor was one of the main reasons he was hired.

Speaking to CBS Sports after Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, he said: “Most of the time in your career you have been right, in this situation you may not have been sufficiently well informed… I like the high press as much as Jürgen liked it.

“But what we always expect from our players is that we press them very high and that’s what we did in the moments you showed.”

Slot then added insult to injury after twice snubbing Carragher when asked to pick his favorite on the CBS panel, with the latter joined by Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and host Kate Scott.

“Do you want an honest answer? So it will be Kate of course! Slot smiled.

“But if I have to choose between the three men, then Tony, the (Liverpool) press officer, will probably tell me I have to choose the one who played for Liverpool. But I come from an era where I watched a lot of Dennis Bergkamp for Arsenal with Thierry Henry, so…”
