Government continues its efforts to improve the lives of Guyanese – Minister Indar

MINISTER in the Ministry of Works, Deodat Indar has reaffirmed the commitment of the PPP/C administration to improve the lives of all citizens through transformative development projects.

The minister was speaking at the time on Get Real with Shameeza on Wednesday evening.

“The Guyana Program is really transforming the country, improving the lives of our Guyanese people, making people really happy to be in Guyana and coming back to Guyana to live,” he said.

Minister Indar highlighted several transformative initiatives, including the construction of the new Demerara Port Bridge, which is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Georgetown and Region Three.

He also noted the completion of nearly 4,000 infrastructure projects in 2023 alone, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering development across Guyana.

A crucial part of the government’s program has been a complete overhaul of the energy sector.

“We are remodeling, reformatting, re-engineering and restructuring the entire apparatus in terms of power transmission distribution,” Minister Indar explained. He added that more than 240 villages in the hinterland now have access to renewable energy through off-grid solutions.

Reflecting on the PPP/C’s approach to governance, Minister Indar highlighted the administration’s continued engagement with communities.

“When we arrived in government in 2020, we worked as if the next day were elections,” underlined the minister.

This commitment, particularly in communities where ministerial presence was previously rare, aims to keep government listening to and responding to the needs of residents.

Additionally, Minister Indar confirmed that the government has fulfilled most of its commitments under the 2020-2025 Manifesto and is currently implementing new initiatives based on feedback from recent community engagements.

Ahead of the elections, the Minister assured the public that the PPP/C government was sparing “no stone unturned”, reiterating its commitment to continued community engagement to ensure that policies and initiatives align with the changing aspirations of citizens. (PPP)
