Mumbai Central Jail seeks transfer of Lawrence Bishnoi gang members to prevent gang war

Mumbai Central Jail, also known as Arthur Road Jail, has submitted an application to the court to transfer the Lawrence Bishnoi gang members to different jails. Prison officials have raised concerns about potential gang violence within the facility. The administration fears that an escalating gang war could disrupt security, leading to calls for gang members to be relocated to other prisons.

ABP news sources confirmed that the request included those accused of being involved in shootings at the homes of public figures like Baba Siddique and Salman Khan. In these two high-profile cases, authorities are seeking to transfer several currently detained Lawrence Bishnoi gang members to other facilities.

More than 20 Lawrence Bishnoi gang members in jail

A prison official explained: “The Lawrence Bishnoi gang now has more than 20 members in custody here, increasing the risk of them forming an internal faction. This could lead to serious public order problems within the prison. This is why we requested their transfer.”

According to sources, at least 15 suspects are detained in this jail in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case and five in the Salman Khan dismissal case, all of whom are in judicial custody. The Baba Siddique case alone has led to the arrest of 18 people, and more arrests are expected as the investigation continues. The prison is already operating above capacity, heightening fears of disrupting the facility’s operations in the event of a gang war.

D-Company, Chhota Rajan and Bishnoi gang members among High-risk inmates

Officials said those arrested in the Siddique and Khan cases were being held in a high-security cell to prevent them from interacting with other inmates. Arthur Road Jail is home to several high-profile gang members, including members of Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company crime syndicate and the Chhota Rajan gang. They are all incarcerated in separate cases. The authorities must walk on ice, amid the possibility of clashes between rival factions within the establishment.

The Mumbai crime branch has arrested 18 people in the Baba Siddique case, but the main suspects, including Shubham Lonkar and Siddique’s shooter Shivkumar Gautam, are still at large.
