Exercising 5 minutes a day can reduce high blood pressure

A new study found that five minutes of exercise a day can help reduce high blood pressure.
Researchers followed 15,000 people who wore activity trackers and had their blood pressure checked every day.

They divided people’s daily activities into six categories: sleep, sedentary behavior, brisk standing walking, slow walking, and more vigorous exercise.

The researchers say their data showed that replacing sedentary time with physical activity had a direct impact on heart health and blood pressure.

Doctors say the reading should be at or below 120 rather than 80.

Untreated high blood pressure can damage blood vessels and cause heart attacks and strokes, as well as changes in brain function and kidney and eye damage.
