Now it’s time for the Jets’ Garrett Wilson-Davante Adams dynamic duo

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Aaron Rodgers will be greeted Sunday by sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s, ideal conditions for him to throw the football at State Farm Stadium to Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams when the Jets attempt their desperate drive to ending their horrific 13-year playoff drought.

The signs were there for all to see last Thursday at MetLife Stadium, when Wilson did his thing with Odell Beckham Jr. and Adams reprized his old magical connection in Green Bay with Rodgers in the second half against the Texans.

It took Adams until his third game with Rodgers to remind the football world of the type of telepathy they have and the impact he can still have, and to prove for the first time just how powerful Wilson and they can form a dynamic duo with a victory. now season on the line every week.

Breece Hall considers Adams and Wilson the best WR duo in the league.

“Because they’re both No. 1 receivers,” Hall told the Post. “It helps the offense so much because defenses have to account for it so much and it opens up the running game, and it’s kind of pick your poison, whether you want us to sit there and run the ball or that you I want to pass the ball That’s what makes them the best, because they require so much attention.

Sauce Gardner was asked if he considers Adams and Wilson to be the best WR duo.

“I think so,” he said. “They just need to put it on tape even more,” he said, “have more matches with each other.”

Wilson won’t throw one-handed touchdowns all the time, but he’s earned Rodgers’ trust to throw openly, especially now that Adams’ presence has freed him from smothering double coverage.

“The show they just put on last week on a short week is very impressive,” safety Jalen Mills told the Post. “Their bond, their connection with A-Rod and knowing where he’s going to throw the ball in certain coverages and who he’s going to go to is just going to continue to grow.”

Choose your poison.

“You’ve got a guy that’s been in the league for over 10 years, you’ve got a kid that’s been dynamic since he’s been in the league,” Mills said. “They are both similar and different in their own way. I think the similarities are the ability to cut, and then I think where they’re different is that they can both get YAC, but the way they get YAC once they have ball in hand is very unique between these two guys.

“Garrett is more like basketball. …Garrett is going to have a guy in space, he might go two, three laps, and he’s going to give you that ‘wow.’ “Tae’s going to go straight for it, but they’re both good with the ball in their hands.”

I asked DJReed: If you were building the perfect wide receiver, what would you take from Davante Adams?

“His release package off the line of scrimmage. … I think it’s very elitist,” Reed said. “He’s really fast. I think that surprises a lot of quarterbacks. Because he’s a bigger receiver. And then also, his ability to jump. If you watch his dunk videos, he has a crazy bounce. So overall, he’s a dynamic receiver.

What would Reed remember about Garrett Wilson?

“Garrett just moves differently, his body movements are unorthodox. Same thing, really… fast and nimble, but he just does things that most guys can’t do,” Reed said.

I asked Wilson: If you could build the perfect wide receiver, what would you take from Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson?

“I would take ‘Tae’s separation skills,” Wilson said. “Really, just a carbon copy of ‘Tae and send his ass over there, for real. He has the size, he has the measurables. Maybe my speed, that’s the only thing I would take away. I’m trying to learn every day to get to that point where “Tae’s at it, man.”

Adams career with Rodgers: 629 catches, 7,704 yards, 69 touchdowns.

Adams’ 2024 season with Rodgers: 14-175-1.

Wilson’s career with Rodgers: 60-673-5.

Wilson’s three games with Adams: 19-264-2.

Is there a better WR duo?

“I’m obviously biased, but no, I’m not,” Solomon Thomas told the Post. “I can’t think of a better duo.”

The Rams can certainly make a case with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. The same goes for the Dolphins (Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle), the Eagles (AJ Brown and DaVonta Smith), the Bengals (Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins) and the Texans (Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs), not far behind.

When asked if he and Adams were the best duo in the league, Wilson said: “I don’t know, we have to prove it every week.” I don’t really buy into all that, we want to be the best team possible. So whatever they ask us to be the best team, that’s what we’re going to do.

Air Rodgers: The sky is the limit. The time has come.
