Mark Cuban takes a cold look at the idea that Donald Trump is a ‘great businessman’

Billionaire Marc Cuban threw cold water on the idea that the former president Donald Trump is a “big businessman” in an interview on CNN Friday.

Cuban, entrepreneur and ABCIt is Shark tank TV star, the vice president argued Kamala Harris in interviews and on social networks since she received the coat of the president Joe Biden and quickly consolidated the Democratic Partythe nomination this summer after Biden withdrew from the race. While Cuban said he was initially a fan of Trump’s candidacy when he first announced his intentions in 2015, he has now completely soured on the former president. Cuban says Harris is the pro-business candidate who can best serve the interests of small businesses and the economy as a whole.

On Friday, CNN host Kaitlan Collins asked Cuban if he would invest in Trump’s campaign efforts if he appeared on Shark tanklisting some of the former president’s businesses selling Trump-branded shoes, coins, cryptocurrencies, bibles, as well as pieces of his costume.

Cuban replied: “No, he is desperate. You only sell these things because you have to because you need the money. People think he is a great businessman. If the work of the presidency consisted of investing in real estate, choosing curtains and accessories, he”I’m probably the most qualified. But he’s not a businessman. He failed early and often. And the worst part of his business career is how many times he scams American workers. »

News week contacted Trump and Harris’ campaign via email for comment.

Cuba’s remarks come after Trump’s business dealings came under recent scrutiny. In a lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled in February that Trump, his adult sons Donald Jr. and Eric, and the Trump Organization were responsible for a scheme in which the value of Trump’s net worth and assets was illegally inflated to obtain more favorable business deals . Trump has maintained his innocence. The judge has since ordered him and others to pay more than $350 million in penalties— an amount which increased with interest to more than $489 million.

Engoron also barred Trump from serving as any director for three years and his companies were barred from taking out loans from financial institutions. The former president is currently appealing the decision, and some New York Court of Appeals judges have indicated they may overturn the decision.

Meanwhile, Cuban easily engaged Trump supporters and fellow billionaire Elon Musk over the past few months to defend Harris against their attacks. Musk, the CEO of Teslafounder of EspaceX and owner of Twitterhas become one of Trump’s top surrogates, and Cuban has used X as a key platform to fend off Musk and his allies.

Cuban already said News week that he considered Trump’s first term “bad”, warning that a second term would be “worse”. He also sees Harris as someone who will work with Republicans and independent.

“She’s not an ideologue,” he said, describing her as “much more stable” and “open-minded.” In particular, Cuba views Harris’ economic policies as good for the country, saying it will benefit ordinary Americans and small businesses.
