Patriots player disciplined again, lost over $40,000 in fines

Once again, Keion White the bank account took a hit.

On Saturday, the NFL fined the Patriots Second-year pass rusher $22,511 for unnecessary roughness penalty following Sunday’s loss at Tennessee. This marks the the third time the whites were fined this season and the second time it was due to a penalty to the horse’s collar.

White was fined for the way he tackled Titans running back Tony Pollard at 14:03 of the second quarter, resulting in an unnecessary roughness penalty. Under NFL rules, players cannot grab an opponent’s back collar or inside shoulder pads to knock them to the ground.

This brings White’s fine amount to $42,183 this season. The 2023 second-round pick is in the second year of his rookie contract, which pays him a base salary of $1.104 million this season.

White was fined in Week 5 after committing two penalties – horse collar tackle and roughing the passer – on the same drive in the Patriots’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Each of these fines cost him $9,836. As this was the second time he had been fined for a tackle on a horse’s collar, White’s fine was increased to $22,511.

This season, White has been the Patriots’ leading passer. In nine starts, he leads the Patriots in sacks (4), quarterback hits (12), forced fumbles (2) and is tied for the team lead in tackles for loss (5) .

Players notified of violations may appeal any fine. Fines collected by the NFL are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation, which supports NFL alumni in need, and to the NFL Foundation to contribute to the health, safety and well-being of all athletes, including youth football.
