GENESEE COUNTY, MI – A somber crowd gathered outside the Michigan State Police station in Flint Township Saturday, voices rising into the cold November air as community members and family supporters mourned the loss of Rayvon Shahid.

Shahid, 17 years old, was fatally shot by soldiers around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 near Essex Street and Pasadena Avenue in Flint, according to Michigan State Police. Police say Shahid had a firearm in his possession at the time of the encounter and fled from police.
