BNP Acting President Tarique Rahman today (November 9) stressed the need to ensure the people’s right to vote to prevent “ongoing plots” against the country.

“The conspiracies against the nation are underway. They can be stopped only if democracy is restored,” he said while virtually inaugurating a training program for Krishak Dal at the Institution of Diploma Engineers of the capital.

“Without ensuring accountability, nothing positive can happen. Guaranteeing the right to vote is crucial to preventing these conspiracies. »

The BNP leader also announced a series of farmers’ rallies to be held in each union over the next three months, starting from November 10.

“Krishak Dal must be held accountable to the farmers. Their problems must be addressed in the rallies and solutions can be discussed accordingly. If BNP comes to power, we will work to resolve the problems faced by the farmers,” he said. -he added.

Tarique Rahman also said that Shaheed Ziaur Rahman’s canal digging campaign would be reinstated if the BNP came to power.

“There are many parts of the country where farmers struggle to access enough water, which hampers agricultural production,” he said.

He recalled how former President Ziaur Rahman solved this problem by digging canals, which provided much-needed water.

He also highlighted that a significant proportion of women in Bangladesh are engaged in agriculture, emphasizing the need to focus on agricultural development.

“We have always strived to resolve the problems faced by farmers. During Khaleda Zia’s tenure, farm loans up to Tk 5,000 were waived and the government took care of electricity bills during the harvest season, thereby helping to resolve some of the problems of farmers,” he said. added.

Addressing the issue of seed availability, the BNP leader mooted the idea of agricultural insurance to address crop damage caused by various factors.

“Farmers often take loans from moneylenders, which adds to their burden,” he said. “If we put in place agricultural insurance, this problem could be solved.”

He stressed that it is not possible to rely on food imports for such a large population.

“The country must produce its own basic food. We must think about how to expand agricultural land. Some steps can be taken to increase it, and this can only be achieved if we come to power,” he said. -he declared.

He also said that no more mock elections or night voting should be allowed in Bangladesh.

“Voting should take place in broad daylight. There should be the freedom to vote for whoever you want, and the freedom to vote safely. No one should be allowed to disturb or intimidate others.”

The BNP leader said the elections must be held in a fair and neutral manner without any fear. “If we succeed, we will gradually be able to alleviate the problems facing the country and its people.”
