“The BMW M5 is extremely practical for a super sedan with a spacious interior and large trunk”

Although plug-in hybrid systems typically steal interior and trunk space from the cars they power, the M5 offers plenty of space inside. This current generation of M5 has very large dimensions, meaning it has plenty of road presence, aided by its sportier styling and body kit.

There’s plenty of space for occupants, making it just as comfortable for long journeys as any other BMW. This may be the most practical and comfortable M car ever.

Does the BMW M5 have a big trunk?

The BMW M5 has a surprisingly large trunk of 466 liters. It’s also in good condition, so you should be able to fit four good-sized suitcases in it without issue. Every M5 comes with a power tailgate, making it much easier to get things in and out if you have your hands full.

The BMW M5 is also available as a Touring estate version, if you want even more trunk space. The hatchback opening is obviously wider, while boot capacity is 500 litres, increasing to 1,630 liters with the rear seats lowered.

“The BMW M5 should be as safe as the five-star 5 Series, and the brand aims for owner satisfaction. »

Even though the BMW M5 is a performance-oriented niche model that won’t sell in large enough numbers to make it onto our Driver Power customer satisfaction surveyBMW as a brand has been on the rise in recent years, with the company ranking 14th in the last Brand survey 2024. Customers love their cars’ engines, ride, handling and infotainment technology, but value for money and running costs are ranked poorly. With the M5’s plug-in hybrid system reducing running costs, this shouldn’t be too much of an issue, but with it costing so much to buy in the first place, we doubt running costs will be high on anyone’s priority lists. buyers.

How safe is the BMW M5?

The BMW 5 Series was tested by EuroNCAP in 2023, and its five-star rating will also be applicable to the M5. The protection of adult occupants was assessed at 89%, the protection of children at 85% and the protection of vulnerable road users at 86%. For its full suite of safety assist features, the 5 Series scored 78%.

Should you buy a BMW M5?

We think the BMW M5 is a fantastic option for those looking for an incredibly fast super sedan that also doubles as an economical everyday car, even being able to run on electricity for part of the time thanks to its hybrid system rechargeable. What’s even more impressive is how comfortable it is, despite the potential that lies dormant in the background.
