Biden and Trump will meet in the Oval Office at 11:00 a.m. (4:00 p.m. GMT), the White House announced on Saturday, ahead of the former president’s return to power in January.

Trump sealed a historic return to the White House in the Nov. 5 election, cementing what is expected to be more than a decade of American politics overshadowed by his hard-line and disruptive right-wing policies.

The 78-year-old won by wider margins than before, despite a criminal conviction, two indictments while in office and warnings from his former chief of staff that he was a “fascist.”

Exit polls showed voters’ top concern remained the economy and inflation which peaked under Biden in the wake of the Covid pandemic.

Biden, who dropped out of the race in July due to concerns about his ability to continue at age 81, called Trump to congratulate him after his election victory.
