Emergency services were called to the Pullman Hotel on Mulgoa Road, Penrith at around 1.10pm on Sunday after the woman’s body was discovered alongside the injured man.

The man – believed to be in his 50s – was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

The deceased woman has not yet been formally identified.

Authorities have established a crime scene as investigations by local detectives and the State Crime Command’s homicide squad continue.

The man is currently detained under police surveillance.
