September Students of the Month at Chelmsford High

CHELMSFORD — Six Chelmsford high school students have been honored as Lions Pride/Rotary Students of the Month for September, Principal Stephen Murray announced.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Chelmsford for over 30 years, the Student of the Month program recognizes outstanding students from each of Chelmsford High’s three academic houses for their achievements in and outside the classroom.

The awarded students were Jocelyn Pica and Joseph Evans of Emerson House, Akhil Dantam and Anisha Dantam of Hawthorne House, and Salim Gadiri and Pranav Abburi of Whittier House.

Jocelyne Pica

Currently enrolled in AP English, AP Biology, AP Psychology, AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP Research, Journalism and Reality Check, Jocelyn Pica is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), the National English Honor Society (NEHS) and National Spanish. Honor Society (HHS).

She received the Worcester Polytechnic Institute STEM Leadership Book Award her junior year and served as Class of 2024 Marshal for Emerson House.

Pica is a first-year mentor, leader and shining star of the CHS Theater Guild and co-president of the Crescendos acapella group.

“An exceptional student and invaluable member of our school community,” Pica is also actively involved in Women in STEM and the LatinX Student Association.

After graduating from Chelmsford High School, Pica plans to attend a four-year university to study biochemistry as part of a pre-medical education to become a pediatrician.

She is the daughter of Yolanda and John Pica.

Joseph Evans

Joseph Evans is currently enrolled in AP Literature, AP Calculus, AP Research, Honors International Relations, Nutrition, Digital Photography, and Journalism.

Described as “an incredibly gifted person,” Evans is a member of the NHS and NEHS, as well as an AP Scholar with Distinction.

He is also the CHS nominee for the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship.

Evans is an active member of the GIVE Club, through which he has participated in several service projects, as well as a key contributor to CHS TV.

In the future, Evans plans to attend a four-year university to study sports media production.

He is the son of Theresa and Brad Evans.

Akhil Dantam

Currently enrolled in Introduction to Engineering Design, AP Computer Science, AP Physics, AP Literature and Composition, AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP Calculus, and Auditing reality, Akhil Dantam is a member of the NHS and NEHS.

Described as someone who “embodies leadership and collaboration,” Dantam is a member of the math team, coding club, and physics and engineering club, as well as a class representative and student mentor.

During his career at CHS, Dantam won the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in the bronze and silver categories, as well as the Yale Book Award. He also served as Class of 2024 marshal for Hawthorne House.

After high school, Dantam plans to study computer science, electrical engineering and physics at a four-year college.

He is the son of Radna and Krishnamohan Dantam.

Anisha Dantam

Taking a challenging course load including AP French, AP Literature and Composition, AP Psychology, AP Calculus, AP Physics I, AP Biology and Reality Check, Anisha Dantam “consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and commitment to academic excellence “.

In addition to being a member of the NHS, NEHS, and National French Honor Society (SHF), Dantam was recognized at the Science Olympiad, where she placed in the top eight in the Science Quiz Bowl.

She is also a member of the Ecology Club and Science Team, and is president and co-founder of the CHS Chemical Sciences Association.

During her career at CHS, Dantam won the Bronze and Silver Presidential Volunteer Service Award, the Dartmouth College Book Award, and she served as Class of 2024 Marshal for Hawthorne House.

After graduation, Dantam plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.

She is the daughter of Radna and Krishnamohan Dantam.

Salim Gadiri

Currently enrolled in AP Calculus, AP Literature and Composition, AP Physics, AP French, AP Computer Science, Money Smart, and Robotics, Salim Gadiri is described as “a wonderful student” who is “eager to engage” and “ready to to challenge”. »

A member of NEHS and SHF, Gadiri won a CHS Book Award and was named Class of 2024 Marshal for Whittier House.

Outside of the classroom, Gadiri is very active in the CHS community as a member of the Math Team, Middle East Cultural Club, Coding Club, and Freshman Mentoring Program . This year, he is captain of the math team and serves on the board of directors for MESA and the coding club.

After graduation, Gadiri plans to attend a four-year university or college and study physics or astronomy.

He is the son of Abdelkarim and Meriem Gadiri.

Pranav Abburi

“An exceptional and well-rounded student,” Pranav Abburi is currently enrolled in AP Calculus, AP French, AP Literature and Composition, AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology, Student Government, Nutrition, and Economics.

He is a member of the NHS, NEHS, and SHF, received the Harvard University Book Award, and served as Class of 2024 Marshal for Whittier House.

Abburi has been an active member of the varsity swim team, math team, class reps, investment club (co-president), DECA (section officer and president) and is the treasurer of the class of 2025.

Outside of CHS, Abburi is a Bank of America student leader, a student ambassador for the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and a junior volunteer at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington.

After graduating from CHS, Abburi plans to attend a four-year university majoring in business, likely focusing on finance or economics.

He is the son of Rajyalakshmi Tummala and Sudhakar Abburi.
