Jeremy Clarkson accuses Labor of ‘ethnically cleansing’ the countryside and wanting to build ‘new immigrant towns’ on farmland

Jeremy Clarkson has accused Labor of wanting to “ethnically cleanse” the countryside in order to build “new immigrant towns” on farmland.

The former Top Gear presenter, 64, made the accusation in a furious and unreserved rant against Rachel Reeves over the chancellor’s inheritance tax raid.

Clarkson says the budget makes farming “almost impossible” and believes it is part of a “sinister plan” to “bomb our farmland.”

The Clarkson’s Farm star has vowed he will stand with farmers when they take to the streets of London on November 19 for a ‘We Only Want to Feed You’ protest march.

Under plans announced in last week’s Budget, inheritance tax will be charged at 20 per cent on farming assets above £1million – although Ms Reeves said in some cases the threshold could in practice to be around £3 million.

Although the 20 percent figure still represents a 50 percent reduction from the standard rate, agricultural unions and opposition parties have criticized the move.

Farmers could end up paying thousands of pounds more in car tax after a loophole benefiting van drivers was closed in the Budget.

Vehicles such as the Ford Ranger and Nissan Navara will be classed as cars rather than vans from next April, when in-kind tax relief for commercial vehicles ends.

Clarkson said Ms Reeves had used a “machine gun” to hit “all the traditional family farmers”, which would force the next generation to sell their farmland when their parents died.

Write in The Sunhe said Labor will be fine as they will “live on a diet of quinoa”, adding: “I am increasingly convinced that Starmer and Reeves have a sinister plan.”

“They want to bombard our farmland with new immigrant towns and net-zero emissions wind farms.”

“But before they can do that, they have to ethnically cleanse the countryside and eliminate the farmers.”

This follows Clarkson’s comments in The times earlier this week, in which he accused Labor of trying to “nationalise the countryside”.

Clarkson wondered whether fathers would be able to pass on farming trade secrets to their children because they might be forced to sell.

Over the past five years, Clarkson said farmland has become “the must-have accessory for people in suits,” causing prices to skyrocket. In his area, he said, some people paid £15 million for a 500-acre farm.

He accused Labor of attacking “land owned by dukes and hedge fund managers” but said “British farmers appear to have been caught in the crossfire”.

And in doing so, Clarkson believes Ms Reeves appears to have “killed agriculture”.

Ms Reeves defended her proposals to reform farm inheritance tax by saying it was not “affordable” to maintain the current system.
