Taxi driver suffered stroke and found dead by husband hours later

FARGO, North Dakota (KVLY/Gray News) – A North Dakota taxi driver has tragically died after suffering a stroke while on the job.

Juni Flood, a taxi driver from Doyle, died on Friday, November 2. It was a tragedy his family didn’t see coming.

“It feels like a dream. I’ll never wake up to this. I know it’s real, but it seems like a dream. Suddenly. I didn’t expect that at all,” said Fred Flood, Juni’s husband.

Fred was married to Juni for 25 years. He says he will miss everything about her.

“Everything. Everything. I can’t choose just one thing. Just her,” he said.

Juni worked for Doyle as a taxi driver for several years. On Friday she died of a stroke while driving a Doyle company car.

“She was at work when it happened. 8:51 in the morning,” Flood said.

Juni parked in the Royal Liquors parking lot, where she reportedly suffered a stroke. Fred was worried about not being able to contact his wife for the day.

“I came home; My wife’s van wasn’t there. She wasn’t there. I knew something was wrong,” Flood said.

It was only a few hours later that he was able to find her.

“I arrived probably at 7:20 p.m. I agree with his passing and what happened. I just don’t agree with the way they handled knowing that the cab had been sitting there and no one had done a check or anything,” Flood said.

Doyle’s released a statement saying it “can confirm that one of its employees suffered a medical episode on Friday. Doyle’s investigation into this matter continues and more information is being gathered. Doyle’s extends its deepest condolences to the employee’s family.

Fred thinks Juni didn’t get the help she needed. And he and his family aren’t sure where to go from here.

“I don’t even know where to start or where to begin to figure out what I need to do to move on from here,” Flood said.

The family is still planning his funeral.
