Winner of the Mass. State Lottery: $1 million prize claimed in $20 game

A Massachusetts State Lottery player won a $1 million prize on a $20 scratch-off ticket, lottery officials said.

The prize was claimed on Friday. The winning ticket was from the $10,000,000 Bonanza game and was sold at Energy North stores in Winthrop.

The odds of winning the game’s $10 million grand prize are one in 4,032,000. Three grand prize tickets were sent out, but only one was claimed, lottery officials said.

Statewide, 544 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in all lottery games Friday, including 37 in Boston, 18 in Springfield and 15 in Worcester.

So far, the biggest lottery prize won in Massachusetts this year worth $1 million a year for life.

The prize came from the lottery”Millions for life“Scratch ticket game. The the winner claimed their prize via a trust on July 10 and elected to receive a one-time payment of $15.4 million.
