Escondido police find body in burning car in warehouse parking lot

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Escondido first responders found a body inside a burning car in a warehouse parking lot Sunday morning, according to the Escondido Police Department watch commander.

The watch commander said units first responded to a call about a car on fire at the public storage facility, located at 325 Brotherton Road, at 9:58 a.m.

Responding officers found the car on fire parked under an awning in the facility’s parking lot. While investigating the scene, officers discovered a body in the driver’s seat of the Hyundai sedan, according to EPD.

Guard commander says death investigation underway; however, it is still too early at this stage to determine the cause of the fire or death.

This is a developing story. ABC 10News sent a reporter to the scene to gather more information.
