Woman who cries for her dogs doesn’t believe in ‘signs’ and then looks up to the sky

After losing a loved one, it is always good to think that they are still with you in one way or another and sending you signs. This doesn’t just apply to people, as one woman was overcome with emotion when she spotted a sign of her recently deceased senior rescue dogs.

Vanessa Brown, 37, sadly lost her soul dog Roxy, an Australian Cattle Dog mix in May 2023, who was 17 years old. She then faced more losses in May 2024 when her 14-year-old American Staffordshire terrier mix, Zoey, also died. The double loss hit her incredibly hard, and she remembered how loved and happy both dogs were after saving them.

During a particularly difficult day, Brown, of Evansville, Indiana, was driving home and “dreading another evening without them,” but then she discovered something extraordinary. She doesn’t normally “believe in signs”, but she looked up into the sky and noticed a huge cloud formation that looked like her beloved Roxy.

“I had a rough day without Roxy and Zoey that day. Even though Roxy’s death was over a year ago, the house still feels so strange without her and Zoey there to greet me,” said Brown. News week.

She continued: “When I saw the cloud, I had to think twice. I felt a sense of peace that I hadn’t felt before. It was not unusual for me to be extremely sad about Roxy and Zoey and I were crying on the ride thinking about how much I missed them right before we saw the cloud.”

At that point, Brown stopped the car and took a photo of the sky so she could remember it. She shared the image on TikTok (@d0glady) in early August and left many users in tears, leading to over 33,500 views and 5,000 likes.

Overlaying the image of the cloud formation, she wrote: “I love you with every piece of me. Always.”

As a foster coordinator for a nonprofit animal shelter, Brown has found it helpful to channel your grief through work. She gave Roxy and Zoey a forever home, and now she’s trying to make sure as many people as possible animals in its shelter may be just as lucky.

“Roxy and Zoey had the luxury of a safe, loving home until the very end, something few dogs have. I cope with their loss by devoting more time and attention to older pets who pass by our shelter, because I love older animals that are often neglected,” she said. News week.

Brown said the clouds forming was the most direct sign she had felt since their loss, and it helped her feel “more at peace with their absence.” Witnessing this cloud allowed him to believe that Roxy and Zoey “are happy wherever they are.”

Brown has been amazed by the love and support she has received online since posting the photo, as many other pet owners have shared their own experiences with heartbreaking loss of a pet.

“Losing them is heartbreaking, but I will never take back all those years together and all the joy they brought to our family,” Brown said. “If there’s anything I want people to take away from this, it’s how much one animal can change your life. There are millions of animals in shelters waiting for someone to love them , they just need a chance.”

TikTok users react

The TikTok post has generated more than 370 comments so far, with many people offering their support and condolences.

One TikTok user wrote: “They’ll be waiting for you when you get there.”

Another posted: “Oh there are signs everywhere if we’re awake! Your puppies thought you needed a BIG sign.”

While a third user added: “Now see, they’re okay. I know you’re not. But I believe they’re safe, until you see each other again.”
