Manchester United are waiting for new head coach Ruben Amorim to take over at the helm of the English club following his departure from Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon as the Red Devils look to enter a new era after a decade of struggle.

Amorim, who led the Portuguese capital club to two titles in four years, was named to succeed former coach Erik ten Hag after a poor run of results saw the Dutchman shown the exit door.

Amorim managed to end Sporting’s 19-year wait for the league title, which would encourage United’s base, who are awaiting their first Premier League title since the departure of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has praised Amorim for the work the 39-year-old has done with the Lisbon-based side over the past four years.

“He is very true, very loyal,” Casemiro said.

“We cannot ignore how much he has changed Sporting Lisbon. We know that Sporting has won many titles, changed the club with titles and trophies,” said the 32-year-old.

“He has already proven that he is a coach who has won a lot,” continued the Brazilian.

The midfielder also felt that United’s dressing room was looking to improve and learn from the new boss as they looked for success together.

“I think there will be a good model that everyone will want to develop, that everyone will want to learn. I think this is how we can first help ourselves reach the top of the rankings,” Casemiro said.

The midfielder has returned to form after a difficult start to the season which saw the Brazilian involved in some high-profile errors, including his horrific performance against arch-rivals Liverpool earlier in the season.

“Well, everyone can see, right? I only had the Liverpool game, right? The whole team was not good in this game, nor this season,” Casemiro said.

“This game, but individually, of course, when the goals are missed, of course it ends up hurting the team more, but I think it’s been a good season for me,” he added.

“I want to continue to grow, I want to continue to help my teammates and the coach, to help Manchester United grow,” he reiterated.
