Trump’s ‘border czar’ warns Democratic governments against rejecting Trump deportation plan: ‘Get out of the way’

Thomas Homanwhom President-elect Donald Trump named “border czar” on Sunday evening, has a clear message to send to all Democratic governors who oppose the planned mass expulsion operation.

“If they don’t want to help, then get the hell out because (Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)) is going to do its job,” said Homan, who was acting director of ICE during the first Trump administration . Fox News Digital in an interview Friday.

Trump announced Sunday that Homan would be named “border czar” and would be in charge of borders and “all expulsions of illegal aliens to their home countries” in the new administration.

GOVERNOR DEM THREATENS TO USE ‘EVERY TOOL’ TO FIGHT TRUMP-ERA DEPORTATIONS

Prior to the announcement, Fox News asked Homan about comments from Democratic governors who indicated they would not work with the administration on mass deportations of illegal immigrants.

Mass Governor Maura Healey said last week that “all available tools must be used to protect our citizens, to protect our residents and to protect our states and to maintain the course on democracy and the rule of law as fundamental principles.”

“No. Absolutely not,” she said last week when asked if state police would help with evictions.

Homan, a Fox News contributor, suspects some “sanctuary” jurisdictions will work with the administration.

“They’re not going to say it, but with all the alien crimes and young women being sexually assaulted and murdered, some sheriffs have come forward and worked with us behind the scenes,” he said.

However, while he said it would be helpful to have a “force multiplier” of aid from state and local governments, and for officers to have access to county jails where serious illegal immigrant criminals are incarcerated , he said the lack of this aid would not stop operations.

“If you don’t want to work with us, then get the hell out of here, we’re going to do it. That means instead of sending 100 people to Boston, we’re going to send 200 agents.” in Boston, we’re going to get the job done,” he said.

“We have a mandate. I think the American people have just given President Trump a mandate. This is why he was elected: to secure the border, save lives, and deport people, especially threats to national security and public safety. So if you don’t help us, step aside, but don’t be embarrassed, because there will be consequences. »

Homan said the immediate focus would be on illegal immigrants who have been convicted or criminally charged, as was the case during the first Trump administration.

“LIBERATION DAY”: WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PRESIDENT-ELECT TRUMP ON BORDER SECURITY AND IMMIGRATION

“It will not be a massive sweep of neighborhoods, nor massive raids. It will be a targeted repression operation,” he declared.

However, he cautioned that this does not mean that anyone is excluded. “If you’re in a country illegally, you have a problem.”

Homan argues that with millions of people entering illegally through the southern border under the Biden administration, there must be consequences for those who do not have a valid asylum claim, otherwise there is no true due process.

“There will be a massive expulsion operation because we have never seen one before illegal immigration where 90% will be ordered removed. It’s common sense,” he said.

He also said many illegal immigrants will likely leave on their own when incentives to cross the border stop. As for the number of people who can be removed, this will depend, according to him, on the resources made available.

“It depends on resources, it depends on money. But I guarantee you that President Trump means what he says and there will be a green light to enforce our laws and secure this border. And that will require an operation mass expulsion,” he said. said.

Homan, a former New York police officer, Border Patrol agent and ICE chief, was widely expected to play a key role in the mass deportation operation. A 2016 Washington Post article noted that Homan “deports people. And he’s really good at it.”

Homan said Friday of his potential role in the administration: “Here’s what I’m going to say. I didn’t ask for a position. I certainly didn’t ask for a cabinet position. President Trump knows that s ‘he needs me to carry out a deportation operation, , if he needs me to secure the border I am ready to help him in any way possible and he will decide what he wants from me. does or if he wants me to do it.

Instead, he highlighted the threat posed at the border and the next administration’s determination to resolve it.

“The southern border is the greatest national security vulnerability I have seen in my lifetime. This should be a nonpartisan issue. People should not threaten to kill me or hate me. Securing the border should be a non-partisan question,” he said. “And we’re going to do it…I don’t care what people think, we’re going to do it.”
