Ex-Republican to Trump Voters: Be Brave, Stop Whining, and Understand Why You Are Pariahs

A former Republican has asked supporters of President-elect Donald Trump to stop complaining that people perceive them differently because of their vote.

Tom Nichols, a staff writer for The Atlantic, wrote Saturday that the election involving Trump is a test of “character.” He explained that people who voted for Trump should stick to their choice if people start to see them differently.

“IMO, the election involving Trump is not a normal election. I said eight years ago that these were tests of character. If you voted for Trump, don’t complain if the people around you now see you differently. But listen, you made your choice. Be comfortable with this. You won! » he wrote on X social media platform.

Nichols, who left the Republican Party in 2018, wrote that many Trump supporters reportedly excluded people in their community who voted for Vice President Kamala Harris. Therefore, Nichols argued that Trump voters should not be surprised if this happened to them.

“If you insist that a friend or family member thinks the same thing as last month, you’re just whining. If things had gone the other way, many Trumpists would have excluded Harris voters from their circle, because for them, acceptance is always a one-way street,” he wrote.

He concluded by telling these Trump supporters to “be a man.”

“So let’s all be adults. Some questions go beyond politics. If you voted for Trump, you cannot ask for souvenirs from people around you or even family that Trump identified as scum, vermin, etc.
Be a man and accept that others have come to a conclusion about you,” he said.

Trump won the 2024 presidential election by sweeping all seven battleground states against Harris. Since then, Democrats have come to terms with what went wrong while Republicans tout their victory.

Meanwhile, Trump will take the next few weeks to announce who will serve in his cabinet. He is also expected to meet with President Joe Biden for a transition meeting on Wednesday.
