High Wind Watch Issued for Oregon for Tuesday and Wednesday

A high wind watch was issued by the National Weather Service at 1:47 p.m. Monday, effective from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday for the Clatsop County coast, the Tillamook County coast and the central coast. ‘Oregon.

“South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible,” the weather service adds. “The strongest winds will be along beaches and headlands from Yaquina Head to the Long Beach Peninsula. South of Yaquina Head and inland, gusts could reach 45 mph.”

“Destructive winds could bring down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for large vehicles,” the weather service said. “Tie up loose items or shelter items in a safe location before winds appear.”
