Patriots draft finds new home in the NFC West

N’Keal Harry will get another chance to try to revive his NFL career.

The wide receiver/tight end signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad Monday. Harry was released by the Minnesota Vikings in October after not appearing in a match for them this season. The Seahawks have Harry on the tight end roster.

The 2019 New England Patriots The first-round pick first unsigned with the Vikings in August 2023 and appeared in nine games due to injuries to Justin Jefferson. Harry changed positions from wide receiver to tight end — which Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said the 26-year-old was “fired up about.” But he never got the chance to show whether the position change would help him get on the right track.

But after being on the market for a month, Harry will join his third team in as many seasons.

Harry’s time with the Patriots did not go as planned. He I struggled to stay healthy and did not reach the end of his rookie contract as the Patriots declined his fifth-year option. THE Chicago Bear acquired Harry in 2022 for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in seven games after a stint on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

He also had a difficult start to 2023. After signing with the Vikings in August, they opted to release him only 18 days later. Harry re-signed to the team’s practice squad in September and was increased the following month.

It’s unclear how the Seahawks will use Harry – whether at tight receiver or wide receiver. Seattle is 4-5 this season and fourth in the NFC West as it prepares for a Week 11 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
