Anderson, 56, recalls: “We didn’t do it. And why would we? We were busy. »

Duchovny starred as the open-minded Special Agent Mulder, while Anderson starred as the more skeptical Special Agent Scully on the hit Fox series from 1993 to 2002. They also both reprized their roles in two films and revival seasons in 2016 and 2018.

“The Crown” actress added: “We have a closeness that we probably don’t have with a lot of other people, and we experienced something that we haven’t experienced with any other person. Duchovny has two children — West, 25, and Kyd, 22 — with his ex-wife, actress Tea Leoni, whom he divorced in 2014. They recently sparked reconciliation rumors after breaking up in 2020.

Duchovny admitted he thought the “trickiest” part of their conversation would be addressing what he described as his “failed friendship.”

“A long time ago, working on the show, we didn’t even talk about each other off camera,” Duchovny recalls.

“And there was a lot of tension. Which apparently didn’t matter for work because we’re both crazy, I guess. We could just go out there and do what we needed to do.

Scully and Mulder eventually became romantic on the show, even though the actors admitted they spoken in real life.

“It’s kind of crazy,” Anderson admitted. “I mean, it’s crazy that we were able to present on camera, you know, the different feelings and emotions and attractions and all that kind of stuff, without then talking to each other for weeks.”

Duchovny suggested that might have been a wise choice.

“Because we are saving it. I don’t know,” he said. “But I could have handled it better, you know? And as you know, we went through a crazy creative process with this thing.

He added: “We started from… I mean, I was pretty inexperienced. You were Really inexperienced. And all of a sudden… It was like a global phenomenon before the Internet. And we rush around, trying to figure out who we are.

But they moved on. Duchovny told People that he and Anderson are like “family.”

“When you share a defining experience in your life — this huge success with the show that we had — only we know what it means to be at the center of that,” he said.

“It’s almost like we’re in the same family.” We know what it was like to be raised in those times. There is a certain type of shared experience, knowledge, and past that never goes away.
